Welcome Message from the DAS President

The Difficult Airway Society (DAS) is delighted to be a partner society at the Regional Airway Meeting (RAM) 2026 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.

DAS was fortunate to be invited to send a delegation of six anaesthetists, led by course co-organiser Imran Ahmad, to join the 51 invited speakers at the inaugural 2024 meeting in Kuching. It was wonderful to partner with airway experts from across Asia and around the world as we explored key topics in airway management from both local and global perspectives.

Reflecting on the 2024 meeting, not only was it friendly, welcoming, and efficiently run, but there was also a genuine sense of collaboration and participation among the 425 delegates during three days of lectures and workshops.

The second RAM offers the opportunity to build on the success of the first meeting. Although the programme has yet to be finalised, I'm sure topics ranging from routine videolaryngoscopy, including which videolaryngoscope to use, to the pros and cons of the latest airway management guidelines, as DAS will be updating its 2015 guidelines at the end of 2025, will be up for discussion and debate.

In the year following the World Airway Management Meeting, I am very excited to see how abstract submissions, reflecting local research activity, will have increased.

As DAS President, I can say how much I am looking forward to this second RAM, where science and culture blend with friendship and hospitality. I encourage you to make every effort to join us in Kota Kinabalu and help make this another unforgettable airway meeting.
