PROFILE SUMMARY
Dr Joanne Hng Mei Hwa is a Consultant Emergency Physician with extensive experience in advanced airway management, airway education, resuscitation leadership, and programme development in Emergency Medicine. She is currently based at Beijing United Family Hospital in China, where she also serves as Chair of the Code Committee for the Beijing market under United Family Healthcare.
In this role, Dr Hng provides strategic governance and oversight of Code Blue, Code Trauma, and institutional emergency response systems, supporting multidisciplinary resuscitation preparedness across multiple hospitals and outpatient clinics. Her responsibilities include system design, policy development, quality assurance, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient safety, team performance, and organisational readiness during critical events.
Dr Hng is the Founding Programme Director, Course Advisor, and Past President of Clinical Airway Skill Training in Emergency Room (castER) Malaysia, a nationally registered professional society established in 2017. Through castER Malaysia, she has led the design and delivery of structured emergency airway programmes, simulation-based training, and regional collaborative outreach initiatives, including sustained engagement with resource-limited healthcare settings.
An effective communicator and mentor, Dr Hng is actively involved in faculty development, interdisciplinary training, and leadership education. She regularly contributes as invited faculty to international and national conferences, professional workshops, academic forums, and publications.
